At work I have been sharing sample sentences for children and teachers to try and decipher. While they get some picture clues, you don't. Can you figure out what these sentences mean? Explanations follow.
Xəsis əliaçıqın əksisidir.
Soyuqdan donuram.
İstidən ölürəm.
Bu gün hava yaxşıdır.
Yaxşı qonşü uzaq qohumdan yaxşıdır.
Bu söz dilimin ucundadır.

Xəsis əliaçıqın əksisidir. - Generous (open-handed literally) is the opposite (is the contrary) of greedy.
Soyuqdan donuram. - I am freezing from the cold.
İstidən ölürəm. - I am dying from the heat.
Bu gün hava yaxşıdır. - Today the weather is good.
Yaxşı qonşü uzaq qohumdan yaxşıdır. - A good neighbor is better than a far-away relative. (Can be interpreted as A good neighbor is better than a relative who you are not close to physically or emotionally.)
Bu söz dilimin ucundadır. - This word is on the tip of my tongue. (dilim - my tongue; dilimin - possessive)
